my first iPad article

This is the first article i typed using the virtual keyboard on the iPad. not easy. the most difficulty part is moving the cursor to make corrections. the simplified keyboard contains no cursor keys. one has to use the finger to point to the alphabet or space. but my finger is too big and too clumsy. a stylus would do better. but the iPad has no slot for inserting stylus like smartphones. well, tell me how you master it:

Bought an iPad on the official launch day in hong kong.  I was lucky. There were several stores in the launch program. My wife and I first wanted to go to the new apple store in the daimaru(大丸)area, thought it might have more supplies and therefore better chance of getting one. But the minibus we took stopped much closer to times square (時代廣場)than the daimaru area. So we thought might as well take a look at the times square broadway(百老匯)store before walking over to the apple store.

When we arrived at the door at about 9:45am, the broadway store was just beginning to let people in. There were about 30 people ahead of us and the rule was one iPad for one person. Seeing a good chance of getting one with almost no waiting, my wife and i settled down, giving up the idea of walking to the apple store for the time being.
But it was not so simple. While we were moving along in the line, in less than 10 minutes, staff in the store shouted out that the 16G 3G model were sold out.  There were whispers and a slight commotion in the line. Another 2 or 3 minutes later, the 32G 3G model were out. The guy in suit immediately after me grinned and dropped out. Apparently, people in hong kong like 3G.  As with many people in the line, my wife immediately called the relative whom she represented in the line. Fortunately, no adjustment to the purchasing order was necessarily. Our relative only wanted the basic WiFi model.

In the next 10 minutes of so, my wife and I each got what we needed. The whole process took no more than 30 minutes. The only regret was broadway did not carry the official iPad cases.  That means we had to take an extra trip to the apple store.

So carrying our new toys, we walked over, which we had planned to do anyway. When we arrived, a few dozens fans were lining up at the door. The session was reserved for iPad launch. Other customers were not let in. But In sharp contrast to the commotion in broadway, staff running around, even shouting, and occasionally, customers producing a bunch of 500-dollar bills (definitely mainlanders), the apple store was very peacefully.  There were may be only 3 or 4 customer accompanied by a similar number of staff, just like any normal day and any normal hour. No one was in a hurry.
For these two opposite styles of doing business, the broadway style was hong kong and the apple store was western. The first had efficiency and the second had courtesy, each had it's own followers. But to get a hot item which can sell out in the first hour after launch, guess most fans would prefer the former.  If my wife and I had gone to the the apple store, doubt if we could get what we needed that easily. Last friday, it was 错有错着.

As trade off, we were not able to get the iPad accessories which were almost exclusively carried by apple stores.  But the accessories are meant for iPad, if you can't get the main item, what's use for the things go around it?

In the following days, my wife and I made inquiries at several apple stores about the accessories. But nothing in sight. And it seems that nobody knows when they will be available.
So in the meantime, just learn to master what we have at hand before we can go any further.

Pity that some spammer made the first comment.

I saw someone with an iPad Saturday on an MTR train, a rather odd view indeed as he's the only one holding one and he didn't look very literate...

I still cannot make up my mind whether to buy one or not.
